Our History

Skyland Golf Course is one of Medina County's oldest public golf courses, proudly serving the golfing community for over 75 years since opening in 1928. Located on Center Road in the rolling foothills of Hinckley, Ohio, the course has been a beloved destination for generations of northeast Ohio golfers.

A par 72, patrons find a pleasant difference from the front nine, open and rolling, to the back nine, tight and sporty. The course's natural landscape, designed by Mother Nature herself, winds through the scenic foothills and has attracted golfers from across the region.

Tim Rhodes — Club Manager

Tim Rhodes oversees the daily operations of the golf course, pro shop, and clubhouse, ensuring every visitor has a positive experience at Skyland.

Richard Rhodes serves as Superintendent, bringing professional certifications and deep expertise to maintaining the course grounds. His credentials include:

  • Certified Golf Course Superintendent (CGCS)
  • Enrolled Agent (EA)
  • Member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA)
  • Member of Northern Ohio GCSAA
  • Member of Ohio Turfgrass Foundation

Community

Skyland is more than just a golf course. It is a gathering place for the Hinckley community. With over 40 leagues, junior golf programs, annual outings, Friday Fish Fry dinners, and banquet facilities, the course plays a central role in the social life of the area.

The clubhouse has hosted countless celebrations, memorial gatherings, and community events over the decades. As the saying goes, "the ashes of more than one player are sprinkled on the course" — a testament to the deep connection golfers feel with this special place.
